Nancy's Update

We just returned from a four-day trip to Central California. Our sons play basketball in a tournament in Arroyo Grande every year. We love this trip, not just because of the basketball games, but we get to visit many relatives and friends in the area. It was a great trip and Andrew's team won the championship game IN OVERTIME! What a thrill. The tournament sponsors a wonderful barbeque on Saturday evening complete with 3-point shooting contests, raffle prizes and fantastic food and fun! I had been coughing just prior to this trip and completed a course of a strong antibiotic (Z-Pak) during the tournament weekend. For some reason, it didn't seem to be helping. I figured I'd deal with my cough when I got home.

Well, I went to the doctors today and they took a little listen to my lungs and immediately ordered a chest x-ray. Looks like I have pneumonia (that's funny, I didn't feel that sick - ooops... shoulda probably stayed home from the fun weekend excursion.) My doctor at City of Hope will call me tomorrow regarding this setback. (I'm hoping he doesn't hospitalize me.)

I'll blog more when I know more. In the meantime, please accept my apologies for not blogging sooner. I'm suppose to see my doctor at City of Hope next week. I was going to blog then with results from my last bone marrow biopsy, etc... We'll see if that appointment still happens.

Please say a prayer for my friend Ann Gregory (Click on her name on my sidebar). She has been rehospitalized at MDA Anderson in Texas. She's over one year post-transplant and is experiencing some kind of complication. She's become a very dear friend of mine and I'm hoping she can recover quickly!
