A Very Good Day at City of Hope

Can you believe it?  It has been six years since my bone marrow transplant.   I attended the annual Bone Marrow Transplant Reunion with my brother, Kurt, on Friday, May 11, 2012.  Thousands of people including patients, donors and family and friends attend this annual event.  Patients display these huge buttons which are bragging rights for how many years they've survived transplant!  It's really quite breathtaking.  Donors are there who have literally saved lives, some who have gladly donated their precious life-saving marrow and/or stem cells multiple times.  This luncheon is truly a one-of-a-kind event.   BBQ Chicken, beef, hot dogs, green salad, potato salad, pasta, desserts and drinks are enjoyed by all.  Shown above, is myself and the doctor who literally saved my life by tending to every detail for last 10 years since I came to him in desperate need of help.  Dr. Nakamura is an angel.

Speakers include the CEO of City of Hope, Michael Friedman, and the Chair of Hematology and Hemotopoietec Cell Transplantation, Dr. Steve Forman shown below with me sporting the Dodger Blue cap. The Dodger Guest Speaker was pitcher, Josh Lindblom #52.  Also, we are always graced by the presence of Comedian and fellow bone marrow transplant survivor, Sean Kent.
