Minor Setback

Nancy has been running a slight fever since leaving the hospital on July 4. Today it spiked over 102, so she has returned to the hospital for a short stay. IV antibiotics should cure this infection and allow her back to the Village soon.

Nancy received one unit of platelets today. Her white cell count continues to increase. She has not needed red cells for five days! We are encouraged by this positive trend in blood counts.

Thanks for the continued positive thoughts and prayers.

About Me: My name is Nancy Sakakura. I began having problems with my blood counts in 2002. I was diagnosed with Myelodyplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Myelofibrosis in 2004 and have been in search of a bone marrow donor since that time. I will finally be undergoing a bone marrow transplant and will be admitted to the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, CA on Mother's Day, May 14, 2006. This will be an account of my experiences, thoughts and current status. I will update this site daily to the best of my ability, otherwise, my family members will update it for me.
