Slow & Steady Progress! (+461 days)

Can you believe it's been two months since my last doctor visit? I'm now 15 months post-transplant and feeling great. This wonderful donor in Japan probably doesn't know if I still exist. She has saved my life and I'm forever grateful for her precious gift of life.

My counts finally moved up a bit. They have been stable over the last four months and finally show improvement. In fact, for the first time, except for my stubborn platelets, all my counts are now in the low-normal range. This is cause for celebration!

Without further ado:
WBC 4.1 (norm 4.0 - 11.0)
RBC 3.98 (norm 3.8 - 5.2)
HBG 12.9 (norm 11.5 -15.5)
HCT 36.8 (norm 35.0 - 47.0)
PLT 90 (norm 150-350)

For those following other important counts, I'm told my ANC is within normal range and my chemistry panel is all normal. My doctor is happy with my progress, but due to signs of GVHD (Graft vs. Host Disease), or rejection, he hasn't decreased any medications yet. I'm currently still taking 14 pills a day (originally 35 a day), but that's okay with me. I've got the medications down to a science.

I want to thank all of you for your precious support over the past several years. You've really carried me through some tough times and I'm ever so grateful. Many of you supported my family in so many ways and so many have continuously prayed for my health. Because of my donor and all of you, I'm here today and able to enjoy so many things. Andrew is starting his last year in high school. Scott graduated last year and will be starting at CSULB, School of Engineering, next week. So many milestones... and I get to be a part of it all. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I'm forever in your debt. Enjoy Life.
With love, Nancy

I would like to help donors and recipients unable to meet each other to due to policies in other countries or centers. Identities can be figured out using HLA typing, dates of donation, etc.
